Ode to a Dying Orchid

Her white-tipped wings
curl
as she drips
a slow purple death.

Aubergine pearls
risk the edge clinging
to the thin waxy stalk.

Her clogged arteries
closing,
closing,

and soon her dark forked
tongue will be speechless.
